If photography requires “seeing.” And, musicianship requires “hearing.” Then, writing requires “committing.” Perhaps that’s why the craft is often referred to as, "committing something to paper." Bond is the type of writer who thinks and feels — then with her “real” voice, makes a commitment, to herself, to her subject, to her readers.
Bond’s heart for her art may explain why she’s been a literary professional since graduating college in 1993, starting with her position as senior science writer for the University of California Natural Reserve System. Over her career, she has won awards for editing for the US Congress and The UC Regents and has contributed writing to a high-budget television grant for National Geographic (funded). She has written for diverse readers — ranging from the world’s leading academics to schoolchildren — delved into myriad topics — from art to zoology — and made an impact through a media mosaic — including high school and college curricula, scientific newsletters, magazine features, sketch comedy, CD and DVD covers, and song lyrics.
